ARC Raiders Coins are becoming part of a larger progression conversation as Embark Studios prepares its next major update. Frozen Trail is scheduled to arrive on October 8 and introduces a substantial redesign of how players unlock rewards. Instead of continuing with Raider Decks, the game will move toward a new 60-level Reward Pass system. The change is designed to make progression feel more structured while giving players additional reasons to keep returning to the game.

A New Reward Pass Structure

The biggest change in Frozen Trail is the replacement of Raider Decks with permanent Reward Passes. Embark Studios explained that the previous system allowed players to accumulate Cred too easily and then spend it rapidly on unlocks. That made progression feel less meaningful over time, especially for regular players who could quickly work through available rewards.

The new Reward Passes are intended to create a steadier progression experience. Each pass contains 60 levels, giving players a longer path to work through while they play. Because the passes do not expire, players will not have to rush through them before a seasonal deadline. This should make the progression system easier to approach for people who play at different speeds.

Free And Premium Rewards

The Reward Pass includes both free and premium progression tracks. Players using the free track can earn base outfits, cosmetics, weapons, and gadgets as they advance through the levels. This ensures that the redesigned system still provides meaningful rewards without requiring players to spend additional currency.

The premium track costs 1,150 Raider Tokens and focuses on cosmetic rewards. One notable feature is that players who complete the premium pass can earn back the full amount they spent. This creates a different approach from a traditional limited-time battle pass because completing the progression path can effectively replenish the premium currency investment.

Frozen Trail Adds More Than Progression

The Reward Pass overhaul is only one part of the Frozen Trail update. The update also introduces the Pendola Pass map, giving Raiders a new environment to explore and fight through. A new map can significantly change how familiar strategies work because players must learn different terrain, routes, sightlines, and encounter opportunities.

New enemy types are also arriving with the update. Additional enemy variety can make repeated expeditions feel less predictable, particularly for players who have already become comfortable with existing threats. Frozen Trail also includes a temporary PvE matchmaking mode, providing another way to experience the game's combat without relying exclusively on its usual structure.

A Different Update Philosophy

Embark Studios is also changing how it approaches future content updates. Rather than continuing with a monthly patch schedule, the studio plans to move toward fewer but larger updates twice a year. The change is partly connected to development fatigue and partly to the speed at which players have been completing available content.

This approach could allow major updates to contain more substantial features rather than requiring the development team to maintain a constant monthly rhythm. For players, it means individual updates may carry more content and provide larger changes to the overall experience. Frozen Trail appears to represent the beginning of this new direction.

Permanent Progression Changes The Rhythm

For players interested in progression and customization, ARC Items provide another part of the wider ecosystem surrounding the game's evolving reward structure. The permanent nature of the new passes means players can take their time instead of feeling pressured by an expiration date. That could be particularly useful for people who alternate between ARC Raiders and other games.

Frozen Trail therefore represents more than a simple content drop. The 60-level Reward Pass system changes the way progression works, while the Pendola Pass map, new enemies, and temporary PvE matchmaking add fresh gameplay opportunities. With the update launching October 8, players will have a substantial collection of new systems to explore and a different progression structure designed to remain available for the long term.
